Watec 120N camera on 8" f/4 Newtonian telescope. Baader IR/UV filter. Stack of 50x10.24s images with 50x10.24s dark frames and flat frames subtracted. Captured in wxAstroCapture, stacked in Registax 4 and processed in PhotoShop Elements 5. Watec focussed using K3CCDTools.
There is controversy over which galaxy is really M 102. It could be a duplicate observation of M 101 or it could be this galaxy, NGC 5866. Most modern versions of the Messier catalogue call this one M 102. Sometimes called the Spindle Galaxy, but there are brighter galaxies with the same name which are more worthy of the title.
