Astro Gallery > Astronomy > Eclipses & TransitsAn image of the total lunar eclipse of 3rd March 2007 about 25 minutes into totality. This image closely matches the colours seen through the eyepiece. The star is the variable star 56 Leonis which is around 6th magnitude.
Image was taken using afocal projection (camera on tripod looking through the eyepiece) of a 200mm Newtonian telescope using a 25mm eyepiece and a focal reducer bringing the telescope down from f/4 to f/2.4.
